'm used to the rain. >> reporter: for those looking past thanksgiving already we watched as these two big rigs rolled up carrying 1200 trees. we'll take you to an auto mechanic shop and show you how the rain, wind, this weather and the holiday are kind of jamming up business there. live in san rafel, i'm john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. >> we have significant weather out there in the pacific. take a look, live storm tracker shows you rain but also the massive system. most of the activity is going to fall north of this line. so the cold front lies pretty much right now just north of the bay area proper. up towards santa rosa coming in close. what you'll see is the heavier rain showers. that's the front. it's not moving. this thing is dragging. it's going to be slow. typically a front would roll through the bay area in a few hours. it's not. it's just sitting up there. you can see heavier rain just north up towards the fountain grove area. they're getting heavy rain. we'll head out towards the park area a little further south. you have a little bit of a break there as those showers are sto

last night. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live to explain what caused the victim to go out in the dark. >> reporter: good morning. this man's body was recovered. it's believed he drowned. firefighters say he went out in the rain last night trying to find his lost cat and he ended up falling off this sleep cliff behind his house and he landed in the water. this is a water-filled rock quarry right below his home here. this is next to the rockridge shopping center. the oakland fire department launched a search around 7:00 last night after the man's friend reported him missing. rescuers used a boat. one rescue worker rappelled down the cliff. just before 1:00 this morning, they found the man's body about 30 feet under water. one of the drivers involved in this recovery operation explain how they locate a body in dark, murky water like this. >> we use a circle search where we set an anchor at the bottom and a buoy at the top. we have drivers stationed on the bottom and another diver that circles that anchor searching for our target. >> reporter: so far, authorities are not releasing the ide

alternatives joins us now. those reports larry of cease-fire coming out of israel really rocked the oil market yesterday. what do you anticipate for today? > > i anticipate the trend to continue. keep in mind, before we had this cease-fire, a month ago, there was a big downward trend in the oil price. so i just expect that momentum to continue. refinery margins are really high, there is a lot of supply. i expect oil to continue to lower in price. > > what about greece? will we be able to get any closure there with the bailout money? > > i think the only way we are going to get closure is when people are willing to forgive and write down their debt, because that is the only way it's going to work. right now they are 180% debt-to-gdp. they need to get it down to 120%. it's just not going to happen. they don't have the money to be able to do this. they are going to have to forgive debt and take a haircut. > > month after month, traders are watching better-than- expected news come in from the housing sector. can we call the housing crisis done? > > i think we can. i think we have fallen down a sev

of this old quarry about 30 feet below the surface of the water. battalion chief told us the rain may have played a role in this deadly accident. >> it's raining and it's wet back there. so this person may have gone back looking for their cats many times. but today because of the weather, may have lost their footing and fell in the water. >> reporter: the fire department says this man may have fallen as close to 100 feet down into the water. firefighter says they did end up finding a cat on the hillside of this quarry. they believe it belongs to the has been who died here last night. they are not identifying the man who died last night. they are only describing him being in his late 50s or early 60s. live this morning in oakland alex savidge. >>> time now 5:03. roads are still wet. it rained hard and steady all night causing a big mess out there on the roads. several spinouts and fender bender have been reported and a lot of drivers had no choice. they had to drive slower just to keep from losing control. at the airports a real nightmare on one of the busiest travel days of the year. ktvu

at this hour. and the highway patrol tells us again that every time it rains, slow down. live in novato, ken wayne. >>> moisture has been pushing on shore all day. but the dynamics are just now arriving. you saw ken wayne in the frontal system. the main dynamics, the main rain but it's heading out. first thing we point out is all the moisture. it's been wet all day. the dynamics are now just reaching the bay. you see some of the heaviest rain near millvalely. i got reports of heavy rainfall, maybe a quarter inch an hour rainfall out toward san rafael as well as out toward richmond. check out san francisco in the outer richmond, the outer sunset. the rain is falling out toward the loan mountain. you have rain out toward daily city and the bay view district and showers now down toward shark park in pacifica and san francisco airport. drop across the bay over toward emeryville up in broadway terrace. you have showers up in orinda as well. these showers now are starting to increase and they will continue to increase as we go through the next hour so as this system starts to work its way south.
